Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen is the oldest and largest settlement of tourist bustle on Lanzarote. Despite the size of the city colossal hotels, such as on Tenerife and Las Palmas, cannot be found in Puerto del Carmen. Apart from a handful of 4-5 storey hotels there are mainly apartment hotels which allow a quiet holiday. Along the milelong natural beaches, the beach promenade meanders with countless restaurants, bars, pubs, discos and shops of all kinds. The beaches are long, wide and clean. Sun loungers, parasols and pedal boats are offered for rental and the next beach bar is just around the corner (close at hand?). The old port with its narrow streets offers a variety of local fish restaurants and international cosy pubs. At least as international as the visitors are the restaurants in Puerto del Carmen: Chinese, Italian, Greek, Indian, Japanese, German, English and of course Spanish pamper their guests with a variety of dishes and exotic drinks.
